An approach to politics for gentle, friendly people

The camaggi.com home page is updated very frequently.

It incorporates the latest developments in verifiable knowledge about sustainable living and considerate democracy.

Take time for reflection

BEGINNING SECTION A

By choosing to visit camaggi.com, and by carefully reading all that you have already seen on your screen, you have indicated that you may have a thoughtful, inquiring mind.

Why do you think as you do?

PART ONE

A virtual academy

This website is part of a three-stage learning experience that I have been developing over several years.

Each stage is designed to support individuals in their efforts to be independent good thinkers and productive life-long learners.

Explore your mind

Would you like to discover
an easy and intelligent way to understand
universally important ideas?

The first stage of this learning experience is appropriate for children and adolescents as well as adults.  Success at the second and third stages requires a mature outlook and a wide range of life experiences.

The pace you set yourself is up to you.  If you are wondering what to expect, you'll discover more as you scroll down your screen...

Learning about considerate democracy

How much time will you need to allocate
to this learning experience?

Twenty-four (separate) hours online is usually all that it takes for most people to have a beginning level of awareness of what I mean by considerate democracy and sustainable living - recognising that the two concepts are intertwined.

However, it is very important to remember that such topics cannot be understood on a purely intellectual level.  Nor can they be understood just by observing social and political life.

A clear understanding of considerate democracy and sustainable living is based on practical experience and ongoing reflections.

Considerate enjoyment is never wasteful

How might you contribute to
knowledge about sustainable living
and considerate democracy?

There is plenty of information elsewhere
online about most aspects of sustainable living.  This current scroll down your screen will therefore introduce you mainly to the practical features of considerate democracy - the most important component of sustainable living in the modern world.

The first step, beginning now, is to enhance your skills of independent good thinking, even if you think your mind is already quite brilliant!  An autonomous, non-arrogant mind is the most important tool for the intelligent and courageous expression of considerate action.

What does considerate democracy mean in practice?

Would you like to learn about the
higher levels of the course?

The intermediate, "open-access but password-protected" areas of camaggi.com (introduced earlier) usually require between thirty and fifty one-hour visits to complete.

During the middle stage of training, you will receive an essential and thorough grounding for expressing considerate democracy in your life - in intelligently critical, compassionate, creative and sustainable ways.

Considerate democracy and reasonable limits

How do you express
respect for reasonable limits?

As already mentioned, there are many websites that explore ideas about sustainable living.  However, most of the people who maintain those sites forget to mention anything at all about considerate democracy.  Here at camaggi.com, I hope to redress the balance.

Would you like to use this website
as a teaching or coaching tool?

Using this website for teaching or training purposes requires completion of a process of assessment and licensing.  You will learn more about training and assessment as you scroll down your screen.

In the meantime, you may like to think about the features that you believe should be part of a considerately democratic learning experience.  Perhaps you would like to write some notes about your views - and perhaps even send them to me.

Would you like to make
information from camaggi.com available
through other websites/sources?

To respect my intellectual, literary and privacy rights, please let me know if you find my work elsewhere online, or on paper.

With few exceptions, permission to copy any part of camaggi.com has not been granted to any person or organisation (including online libraries and archives), except as outlined below.

supported learning

How might I support your learning?

I currently allow each of camaggi.com's visitors to save a copy of this home page for their own private study purposes, in a personal home computer, for no longer than 30 days.

Other html pages from camaggi.com should not be copied, especially as the content changes very frequently.  I like to edit my writings as often as possible to ensure their accuracy.

Like the rest of this website, my home page is constantly being updated.  In view of this, please remember to delete this page from your computer files after 30 days and then use the updated copy.  Thank you.

There are a few pdf files that you may encounter during your explorations of camaggi.com.  These may be copied and shared in printed form, as long as the content is not changed in any way.  The purpose of those documents is to support your practical involvement in the development of considerate democracy.

* How to be a successful student and practitioner

What is considerate democracy?

How might you assist with
the development of considerate democracy?

This website is a learning tool for me, as well as for visitors here.  My home page introduces just a few of the ethical considerations for considerate democracy.  One example is here.

As long as the copyright notices and other guidelines within camaggi.com are respected, the main results of my research will be available through the first two levels of this website - without fees or similarly excluding restrictions.

What does considerate democracy mean to you?

I am continually trying to improve the
Virtual Academy of Considerate Democracy

Please let me know if YOU can help!

How should considerate democracy be taught?

Relax and enjoy
reflecting on your thoughts
as you continue this gentle scroll
down your screen...

How well do you know your own mind?

PART TWO

Making the most of your time
here at camaggi.com

You are invited to answer the reflective questions posed throughout camaggi.com.

For someone who is serious about gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between sustainable living and considerate democracy, the reflective processes will probably add quite considerably to the time it takes to read each page here.  This especially applies to the scroll you are now experiencing.

What does it mean to reflect on ethics and morality?

Consideration is the basis of a mutually acceptable social life.  You have already been introduced to some of the ethical considerations for a considerately democratic relationship between yourself, as a visitor to this website, and myself, as its author and publisher.  Review your understanding here.

The theory of considerate democracy

What does it mean to be considerate?

There are many simple, easy-to-learn activities that can provide a fair and realistic approach to the natural, cultural, social and political worlds.

One such activity is the reflective approach to thinking and making decisions that I have already introduced.
For example, as a considerately democratic person yourself, you might frequently reflect upon your understanding of, and answers to, the following questions:

What does it mean to be friendly?

What does it mean to think well?

What does it mean to act well?

What is your relationship with time?

What can considerate democracy achieve?

How to make the most of

your learning experiences here at camaggi.com:

Step One

Identify the ideas that you believe to be your most important thoughts. Write about those thoughts on some scrap paper.  If you are unsure about what your most important thoughts and beliefs might be, some helpful preliminary questions are here.

Step Two

Put each of your responses into separate envelopes.  It is fine to use old envelopes.  Just use sticky tape to seal them up.

Step Three

Sequentially number the envelopes and write a note on each, to indicate the page of camaggi.com to which your response refers, the topic and section in question, and the date of your reflections.

Step Four

Put the envelopes into a cardboard box (perhaps one with just a slot in the top or side, like a post box) and keep the box somewhere near to your most valuable material possessions - to ensure that your thoughts will not become lost!

Considerate democracy supports health, happiness and hope

More about
the reflective learning process:

The best time to open the first envelope will be a couple of weeks after you receive a camaggi.com open-access password - preferably just after you have repeated the process of reflecting on, and writing about, the topic in question.

Open one more envelope each time you complete another hour here.

You might find it useful to refer to at least one book about the theoretical foundations of considerate democracy.

Between visits to camaggi.com, examine the environment in which you live, identifying the factual extent of considerate democracy as observed through your daily interactions and observations.

Considerate democracy supports health, happiness and hope

If you are already feeling confident
about your own understanding of
considerate democracy...

  • Examine the political basis of your thoughts and relationships.

  • Reflect upon your responses to the information, ideas and images portrayed in various types of media.

  • Identify the views on humanity expressed in the conversations you have each day.

There is certainly plenty to think about!

Is understanding your greatest gift?

PART THREE

Considerate democracy
and the process of reflection

Considerate democracy supports the development of a true understanding of humanity.

Have you ever reflected on the meaning of humanity?  What does being human mean to you?  How would you express a true sense of humanity?

Understanding considerate democracy

How could you improve the way
you think about ideas?

To introduce you very gently to the course, there are no formal examinations or assessments during the first stage, so please relax and make yourself comfortable.

Some readers will find the language used at camaggi.com to be very simple while others are likely to have a few difficulties understanding some of my expressions.
This is just a fact of human cultural diversity.

A dictionary may be useful here, though I aim to keep jargon to a minimum.  My writing style is usually appropriate for people with many different levels of educational attainment, from upper primary students to university post-graduates.

How could you improve the way you
think about your abilities and potential?

Whatever your current age, if you are a person of average intelligence, with an interest in lifelong learning, and with a fairly well-developed understanding of written English, you should complete the basic, introductory, online sections of the course quite quickly

If English is not your first language, you may find an electronic translator useful, though please keep in mind that it may not interpret my words particularly accurately.

Whenever you have any difficulties understanding my words, and especially when you might think that the content of this website is too advanced for you, please do not feel too concerned...

Is understanding the deepest expression of love?

How is your mind organised?

The structure of this home page, and of camaggi.com in its entirety, reflects the process of considerately democratic thinking...

...beginning with the sometimes long and difficult process of realistic reflection.

What is the structure of your thoughts?

Is understanding beyond the limits of certainty?

How well do you think?

The contents of camaggi.com present an outline of a win/win approach to social and political life...

...beginning with the essential process of self-awareness.

What is the content of your mind?

Before continuing your scroll,
think about the meaning of
considerate democracy
in relation to your life...

Is understanding your greatest gift?

  PART FOUR

Travelling at the speed of life

An understanding of considerate democracy might be enhanced if people's interactions are purely those between one relatively unbiased mind and another.  This way of thinking is expressed by travelling at the speed of life.

What do you think it means to go travelling at the speed of life?  What does it mean to be unbiased?  What does it mean just to be travelling at the speed of life?

What does it mean for the future of democracy?

What does it mean for the future of the planet?

What does it mean for the future of humanity?

These are the questions through which
my own search for considerate democracy began

Do you have an open mind?

PART FIVE

How to interact thoughtfully
with this home page

As you scroll down your screen, you may think that the home page you have entered is really more like a chapter
.  I deliberately encourage that perception

Do you think that the gentle and reflective approach encouraged through this website might provide some valuable insights into friendly, uplifting, life-enhancing, planet-appropriate, considerately democratic activities and opportunities?

Do you believe that there are some things that are
more important than considerate democracy?

If so, what might they be?

Reflecting on life

How do you reflect upon
your relationship with time?

When do you make the time to think about the way to think?  What does time mean to you?  How could you make better use of your time?  Why are these questions important?

Making the most of this learning experience begins by taking your time, breathing gently, looking after yourself - and, most importantly, being yourself.

The camaggi.com home page is certainly enough on its own for most people's first visit here - as you will soon discover...

Are you travelling at the speed of life?

Are you feeling that:

This course might be too advanced for you?

You already know enough about considerate democracy?

This course is exactly what you have been looking for?

Exploring your mind is a boring experience?

Exploring your mind is an exciting experience?

Exploring your mind is a frustrating experience?

Exploring your mind is a relaxing experience?

You are unsure if your mind even exists?

If you wish to tell me your views,
you are welcome to provide more than one answer!

PART SIX

Relaxation supports understanding

Please don't worry if something here does not make sense during your initial reading.  It should fit together in your thoughts later - if you allow your unconscious mind the time and space it needs to do its work.

If anything on this home page
still does not make sense to you
after a week or so has passed,
just let me know and I'll try to assist you

Before contacting me, think about whether there is a problem with my reasoning, or your own.  Think about whether you have misinterpreted my words.  Are there linguistic challenges here, and if so, what might they be?

What are your emotional responses to my words and their presentation on your screen?  If you disagree with anything I have expressed here as fact, where is the evidence to substantiate your disagreement?

What does considerate democracy mean to you?

What is the best way to enjoy
your time here at camaggi.com?

There are no requirements to reveal anything about your identity while you sit there looking at the computer screen in front of you, exploring basic ideas about sustainable living and considerate democracy.

If you find anything at all useful or interesting or enjoyable in this website, please let me know.  The same applies if you find anything confusing, distressing or dull.  I aim to meet all readers' needs to the best of my ability.

You will find my contact details further down this home page, though in the meantime there will be plenty of important ideas for you to explore.

How deep are your thoughts?

Before continuing your scroll,
please pause to reflect upon
why you think and act as you do...

How open is your mind?

End of Section A

PART SEVEN

Understanding is the greatest gift

The main purpose of my own writing, research and educational activities is to enhance understanding.

Would you like to use this website
as a research or study tool?

You may like to use camaggi.com for formal research or study purposes, or seek some individual guidance from me about a considerately democratic approach to your own investigations.  If so, it might be best to begin by completing the first two levels of the course I am introducing here.

By visiting camaggi.com for a couple of one-hour sessions each week over twelve weeks, you will also begin to have a basic understanding of the research I have been conducting, and about my findings

Would you like to use information from this website
in a media context?

The way you communicate with other people, including me, is an essential part of your approach to considerate democracy.  This applies whether such communication is on an interpersonal basis or through some form of media.

If you would like to quote from, or comment upon, this website in any media context, whether in the popular, community or academic traditions, a sufficient understanding of my ideas and methods will probably require completion of at least the first two levels of the course about considerate democracy.

How deep are your thoughts?

and about your social relationships?

PART EIGHT

Considerate democracy and relationships

All of my published writings are intended to support the development of considerate democracy - the basis of fairness.

If considerate democracy is something that you would like to support too, please set aside some time to really think about the implications, for yourself and for your relationships - with ideas, people, nature, time, and with yourself.

You are about to discover all sorts of ideas about considerately democratic relationships...

PART TEN

Exchanging and understanding ideas

I am continually developing this website, and a range of other resources, to encourage you to discuss ideas about humanity and considerate democracy with the people in your life.

This approach provides an interesting starting point for mutual understanding, on both a local and global basis.

Deeper democracy

to have a true sense of humanity?

Is the ability to answer the above question
an essential prerequisite for
practitioners of considerate democracy?

PART ELEVEN

How do you usually respond to other people?

As already mentioned, your initial interactions with camaggi.com will probably be enhanced if they are fairly relaxed and informal.

A relaxed and informal approach may assist in making the process of reflection and learning both gentle and intelligent - towards yourself and towards other people.

Much of the rest of this page
is devoted to the above topic

What is your relationship with time?

As the author of the camaggi.com home page, I would like its readers to reflect upon how they usually interact with someone whose way of life, age, temperament, educational attainment, cultural and material acquisitions, personal experiences, health needs, and points of view, may, or may not, be similar to their own.

What have been your own experiences of,
and responses to, people's beliefs,
behaviours, needs and attitudes?

How open is your mind?

PART TWELVE

What does it mean to respond in
a considerately democratic way?

So far on this journey down my home page, you have been provided with a few insights into how I prefer to interact with people.

How considerately democratic do you believe my approach to be?  What have been your emotional reactions to the direct and open style of many of the questions already posed here?

How much do you know about
your own needs, policies, values and
communications preferences?

What does considerate democracy mean to you?

Please relax, dear visitor - I am not really asking you to tell me your answers to most of these questions (though you are most welcome to provide/request assistance and/or participate in the interactive opportunities offered through this website).

Direct questioning rarely leads
to accurate, straightforward answers!

Your beliefs are your own property - and I am usually far too busy to reflect on the mind of anyone other than myself (except on a professional basis).

If anyone else asks for your views, what might be their reasons for doing so?  Is their questioning for your benefit, for their own, or for the benefit of others?  Is their questioning of mutual benefit, leading to mutual understanding?

Why do you think as you do?

PART THIRTEEN

Here are a few more examples of
my own communications preferences

Although I consider myself to be quite a friendly person, I also like being a rather private one.

This is especially so in relation to the time and space needed for thinking in a reflective way about considerate democracy.

You will find no images of me within this website.  Nor are there many direct indications of my physical characteristics.  You will, however, learn more about my reasoning for this as you explore camaggi.com.

Even though I do not use my full name or first name here, you might be the sort of person who would feel better by thinking of me as having a courtesy title.  The one I prefer is "Persona", as in Persona C A Maggi or Persona Maggi, or even Persona C A.  But that is not at all essential.

What I really do hope is that you will find camaggi.com to be interesting, useful and enjoyable - today, tomorrow, and forever...

Thinking critically, compassionately and creatively

PART FOURTEEN

Your private ponderings

What sorts of questions have you already been asking yourself during this scroll?  Which answers are you seeking, and why?

How deep are your thoughts?

PART FIFTEEN

Considerate democracy and understanding

As you explore camaggi.com, you will find that although it may look quite complicated on a superficial level, it really has just a simple, linear structure, with a variety of colour-coded detours along the way.

There are several directions you may choose to follow within this website, though they are not meant to confuse you (even if you have some experience of colour blindness).

What does considerate democracy mean to you?

Recommendations

I usually recommend circular journeys here as these enable the mind to become aware of its own development.  It also prevents the reader from becoming lost or confused.

Allow your own self-awareness to map out a route that is right for you.  If you feel at all tired or overwhelmed or distracted, it is much better to pause than continue.

Come back to this page whenever you think the links, or your daily activities, are taking you away from your goal.  Do you already have a learning goal in mind?  If so, what might it be?

What does considerate democracy mean to you?

Progressing through the course

You will need to obtain one type of password or another to visit many of the detour pages here, though "open-access passwords" are currently freely available, with very few restrictions, to anyone who is attempting to understand considerate democracy, wherever such people may be in the world.

You will have already seen
  a few password-protected links marked
 * like this

If you have obtained access through such links without a password, please let me know.  It is very important that I learn how to fix any technical problems associated with this website.

Maintaining camaggi.com myself is one of the ways in which I ensure that my work remains totally independent.  Without the passwords, my website will probably be ineffective as a learning tool -
meaning that I might as well do something else with my time!

What is the greatest gift?

Clicking one of the following links may help you to review your knowledge of considerate democracy.   However, if this is your first visit to camaggi.com, scrolling may greatly enhance your awareness of my reasoning - and perhaps even improve your understanding of considerate democracy (which may already be much greater than my own).

The decision on what to do is up to you!
